In May 2008 we made our Brighton Fringe debut … and what a time we had. We set up a Spiegeltent, Saloon bar, beer garden and ooh La La Café on the green by St Peter's Church in central Brighton, and ran a full programme of cabaret, music, comedy and theatre taking the town by storm.

We were blessed with beautiful sunshine for nearly the whole run, so the beer garden was well utilised, and we had amazing gigs by Alabama 3, Seth Lakeman, Alice Russell, Hercules and Love Affair, Kitty, Daisy and Lewis, Fat 45s, Los Albertos, Mountain Firework, Cut a Shine and Guilty Pleasures. We also ran fantastic family-friendly shows from Swizzlehsaker, Cabaret Interstellar, Fraser Hooper and Splott Bros, comedy with Scott Capurro, Reg D Hunter, Paul Zenon, Simon Evans, Phil Nichol and the hilarious Raymond and Mr Timkins Revue . We had a musical about the life of Marilyn Monroe, tap dancing soul singer Movin' Melvin, and a Grand Finale cabaret that was a real showstopper, followed by a disco in which we handed out afro wigs to the whole crowd. We even had a fringe awards ceremony on the last night, where we won Most Exciting New Venue. It was a real blast and we can't wait to return next year – we've got big plans! Keep one of your May weekends free and join us for a festival in the heart of the city.
